Nightmare Realm An Uncanny Kingdom Urban Fantasy The London Coven Series Book 2 eBook Matthew Stott David Bussell

This one was interesting and full of solid characters, but too short. Also, the ending was frustrating. It just unravels too quickly after reading the body that pulls you in.

Nightmare Realm An Uncanny Kingdom Urban Fantasy The London Coven Series Book 2 eBook Matthew Stott David Bussell Reviews

In this swiftly moving Uncanny story Stella is tasked with saving children who have fallen prey to a monster while they slept. She is forced to really think outside the box with this case as the sole witnesses, being asleep, are useless.

The writing was pretty inspired and I was, as usual, sucked into the world being built. All of the characters were endearing in their own ways. Stella suffered a few bouts of existential doubts/questioning that I feel made her more relatable. Yes, she IS magic, but that doesnt mean she has all the answers. David learned new tricks, and we even get to meet some of his family. Jake Fletcher from the Ghosted series makes an enjoyable appearance, as well. Basically all my favourite Uncanny peeps in one book saving Londons children. Perfect!

It did end with a cliffhanger of sorts, but since the third book is out I cant feel too vexed. Its not so much a cliffhanger as it is an enticement.
This is an intense, amazing read. So believable yet not predictable. Every single reader will identify with this villainous challenge. I couldn't put the book down until the end and can't wait to read the next in the series.
Stella Familiar and David unite for this go round to save children and defeat London's supernatural baddies. Urban love the characters and the world building is excellent. This series has become one of my favorite things to read. The whole Uncanny Kingdom is full of interesting characters and a great environment for stories. I suggest any lover of urban fantasy to pick up any of the books from this world. You will not be disappointed.
The next installment to the London Coven storyline of the Uncanny Kingdom universe. Children all around London are falling asleep, and not waking up. It is up to the last remaining member of the London Coven, Stella Familliar, to figure out why, and stop it. The problem? This has happened before, and the coven handled it, but that was before Stella was created, and she is not as powerful as her now gone witches. Can Stella stop this before all London falls into an eternal slumber? That's what reading this book will show you.
I love Stella Familiar. She's just the kind of kick-a** heroine I look for and the whole concept of a human(oid) familiar continuing with her mission after her three maker-witches were murdered, is both original and a riot. (As an aside, I still mourn the loss of those three witches, even if they only appeared in the prequel that you can get for free from the author.)

The lead characters, Stella and Detective David Tyler, have great chemistry and I love the dialogue beyeeen them. The plot with its (horrifying to me) evil that puts children to sleep forever, is truly well done. The supporting characters are excellent. If anything, I like this book even more than book 1 and I thought that one was excellent. Bottom line is that this book is simply a fun-blast and highly recummended.

My only complaint is the very ending where MV Stott decided to tease me about the next book. No, it's not a real cliffhanger as the actual story in Nightmare Realm is fully resolved by then, but it still leaves me hanging and sorta panting for the next book. Having said that, it was a pretty neat teaser so I don't know if I'd want it cut. I'm torn and conflicted. Despite that, this book was so good that I'm going to have to give it five stars, something I rarely do.
I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book.

This is the second book in Genre Reader's London Coven series, one of three series set in their Uncanny Kingdom, and like the first in this series "Familiar Magic" it's a lot of fun, though there's a bit of heartbreak in this one as well.

This time out, Stella and her friend/sidekick David are facing a monster thought banished from London forever. Children are falling asleep, unable to wake up or be woken and trapped in their nightmares. While the London Coven has defeated it before, they're now dead and Stella hasn't been able to find any information on how they did it. Faced with more children are being taken every night - and the situation becoming more personal - she knows time is not on her side. Yet even in this grim story, the overall series' sense of fun and humor comes through, giving needed breaks to the tension and helping to keep the story moving.

I strongly recommend checking these books out if you like stories with a nice balance of humor and darkness.
Stella Familiar of the London Coven and Detective David Tyler are back to keep us "normals" safe from the Uncanny World. Jake Fletcher, the Spectral Detective warns Stella that something is wrong, things seem to be unraveling. Sure enough, the recently arrived monster is "a thing of rage and fear and blind fury incarnate", as explained by L’Merrier. It's not something Stella can sink her fist into - how can she fight something that isn't even in our plane of existence? She and David have to come up with a strategy before every child in London is sucked into the Nightmare Realm. Fast-paced action and interesting characters, many of whom we've met before Razor, Lenny, David's sister, Jake and L'Merrier. I was fascinated by the London colloquial dialog and the wild descriptions and similes. BTW, Jake has a history of his own, as told by him in 'The Spectral Detective'.
This one was interesting and full of solid characters, but too short. Also, the ending was frustrating. It just unravels too quickly after reading the body that pulls you in.
